Get to know the Bible

The importance of Bible reading cannot be stressed enough. It is through His word that we get to know God. He already knows you (He created you after all). He wants you to know Him, and you do that by reading the Bible.

This is one habit you definitely want to have. It will change your life. Everyone has their own method. Some read front to back, some skip around, some start with the New Testament (a good choice).

Some people prefer the King James version, some go for the everyday language of the Good News or Common English versions. Here is a list of good Study Bibles and other resources to help you interpret and understand what you are reading, as well as a short paper on how to study the Bible.

Regardless of the Bible version you choose or the resources you have at hand, the important thing is to get started! Day by day, God will reveal Himself to you through His Word.

To help you on your way, here is a plan to read the entire Bible in one year. Through the Bible in a year No need to wait for January 1. Start anywhere, anytime and just keep going.

The Bible is:

The word of God
In this collection of sixty-six books we find the inspired word of God preserved for our benefit (2 Timothy 3:16). Also see 1 Thessalonians 2:13 and Jeremiah 1:9 to realize that God is speaking DIRECTLY TO YOU.

A living book
He is a living God, and so is His Word. Hebrews 4:12 says so.

A much needed book
Check out Psalm 119:67, Psalm 119:105, and Matthew 4:3-4. The Bible is a roadmap for your life and a light to your path.
